Caracol
The largest Mayan city-state ever discovered in Belize.
The Sky Palace
Caracol covers about 200 square kilometers, an area much larger than present-day Belize City. At its peak, it housed over 140,000 residents and maintained a massive network of causeways and agricultural terraces.
The focal point of Caracol is "Caana" (Sky Palace). Even today, it remains the tallest man-made structure in Belize, standing 141 feet high.
